Flow is central to the operation of wells and pipelines and can be postulated to govern the formation of protective corrosion product layers, which is critical to overall infrastructure integrity. However, the phenomena involved remain poorly understood. Therefore, the main objective of this work was to investigate the effect of flow on the heterogeneous precipitation of FeS and FeCO3 as corrosion products on mild steel. Initial corrosion studies were conducted in an autoclave stirred by an impeller. The tests were conducted under quiescent and dynamic conditions for 24 h in an aqueous brine (10 wt.% NaCl, 120°C, 5 bar CO2, 0 and 10-3 mol/l Na2S2O3). The experimental results showed that the increase in rotation speed did not prevent the formation of FeS or FeCO3 crystals. Having confirmed the presence of corrosion product layers, the differences in the trends in corrosion rates may result from the diffusion barrier presented by these layers.

Abstract Pure titanium and various alloys, such as Ti-6Al-4V, are widely used as biomaterials. In this application, surface finish conditions, topography, and surface reactivity determine excellent cellular adhesion and osseointegration characteristics. The study evaluated the influence of four surface finishing treatments (sanding #120, 600, 1200, and polished with 3 µm alumina paste) and three shapes (concave, convex, and flat) on the corrosion resistance of Ti-6Al-4V at 37 °C in simulated body fluid (SBF) through potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The SBF's ionic composition allowed the formation of a stable passive layer with a low presence of pores on the surface. In addition, the combination of polished surface and convex shape showed the best electrochemical passive behavior.

RESUMO: O presente trabalho teve por objetivo estudar a influência da temperatura e da luz sobre a germinação das sementes de Stigmaphyllon blanchetii, conhecida popularmente como rabo-de-rato. Na primeira etapa da pesquisa, foi avaliado o efeito de três temperaturas constantes (20 oC, 25 oC e 30 oC) e uma alternada de 20-30 oC. Na segunda etapa, para simulação da luz sob diferentes qualidades espectrais, foram utilizadas quatro condições de luminosidade (luz branca, luz vermelha, vermelho distante e ausência de luz). As temperaturas que proporcionaram melhor germinação e desenvolvimento para S. blanchetii foram a constante de 30 oC e alternada de 20-30 oC. As sementes germinaram tanto na presença como na ausência de luz, porém houve maior germinação e desenvolvimento das plântulas na ausência de luz, podendo ser classificadas em fotoblásticas negativas preferenciais.

ABSTRACT: The objective of the present work was to study the influence of temperature and light on germination of seeds of Stigmaphyllon blanchetii, popularly known as rat tail. The first stage of the research evaluated the effect of three constant temperatures (20 oC, 25 oC and 30 oC) and an alternating temperature (20-30 oC). In the second stage, for simulation of different types of light, four conditions of luminosity (white, red, far red and absence of light) were used. The temperatures that provided the best germination and development for S. blanchetii are the constant (30 oC) and the alternating (20-30 oC) ones. The seeds germinated both in the presence and absence of light, but there was greater germination and seedling development in the absence of light; thus they were classified as preferential negative photoblastic seeds.

RESUMO: Alelopatia é definida como a capacidade que determinadas plantas e microrganismos têm de interferir no metabolismo de outras espécies, por meio de substâncias liberadas no ambiente, podendo ser uma alternativa de combate às plantas daninhas e doenças. Nesse contexto, este estudo teve por objetivos avaliar o potencial alelopático e identificar os grupos de metabólitos secundários de Paspalum maritimum Trind. As espécies Lactuca sativa, Digitaria insularis, Emilia coccinea e Portulaca oleracea foram utilizadas como plantas receptoras. Para avaliar o potencial alelopático, foram obtidos o extrato etanólico da parte aérea e radicular da espécie doadora. Os efeitos potencialmente alelopáticos foram avaliados por meio de testes de germinação, índice de velocidade de germinação e crescimento inicial de plântulas. Foi realizada também a análise fitoquímica do extrato, para identificar os metabólitos secundários. O extrato etanólico, de ambas as partes da planta, causaram efeito alelopático nas espécies receptoras. Foi detectada, na fração mais ativa da parte aérea de P. maritimum, a presença de taninos condensados, chalconas e auronas, flavononas, esteroides e saponinas.

ABSTRACT: Allelopathy is defined as the ability of certain plants and microorganisms to interfere with the metabolism of other species through substances released into the environment, being an alternative to control weeds and diseases. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate the allelopathic potential and identify groups of secondary metabolites of Paspalum maritimum Trind. The species Lactuca sativa, Digitaria insularis, Emilia coccinea, and Portulaca oleracea were used as recipient plants. The ethanolic extract was obtained from shoot and root of donor species to evaluate the allelopathic potential. Potentially allelopathic effects were evaluated by means of germination tests, germination speed index, and initial seedling growth. A phytochemical analysis of the extract was also performed to identify the secondary metabolites. The ethanolic extract from both plant parts had an allelopathic effect on recipient species. The presence of condensed tannins, chalcones and aurones, flavonones, steroids, and saponins were detected in the most active fraction of the shoot of P. maritimum.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar morfometricamente diásporos de três espécies de ervas-de-passarinho (Passovia pyrifolia, Struthanthus marginatus e Phoradendron mucronatum), bem como estudar o seu comportamento germinativo em função de temperatura e luminosidade. Nos ensaios de germinação utilizou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 4 x 2, com 4 repetições de 15 diásporos. Os fatores para o primeiro ensaio foram diferentes temperaturas e duas condições do diásporo (intacto e sem epicarpo). No segundo ensaio, os fatores foram diferentes qualidades de luz e duas condições do diásporo. As variáveis analisadas foram: porcentagem de germinação, índice de velocidade de germinação (IVG) e tempo médio de germinação (TMG). Os diásporos de ervas-de-passarinho apresentam formato elíptico com camada de viscina, característica essencial na dispersão das espécies. Além disso, apresentam distinção quanto ao grau de umidade quando se comparam as famílias Loranthaceae e Viscaceae, sendo esta última a que apresenta o maior teor. A germinação é maior à temperatura alternada de 20-30 ºC para diásporos de P. pyrifolia e P. mucronatum e 20 ºC para S. marginatus. A luminosidade interferiu na germinação de P. mucronatum e S. marginatus e não influenciou na de P. pyrifolia. A condição do diásporo influenciou a germinação das três espécies em estudo, observando-se incremento significativo na sua germinação quando houve a remoção do epicarpo. Temperatura e luminosidade interferem diretamente no IVG e no TMG das três espécies de ervas-de-passarinho.

ABSTRACT: The goal of this work was to characterize morphometrically diaspores from three species of mistletoes (Passovia pyrifolia, Struthanthus marginatus e Phoradendron mucronatum), as well as to study its germination behavior according to temperature and luminosity. In germination tests, the completely randomized design was used, in factor scheme 4 x 2, with 4 replications of 15 diaspores. The factors for the first test were different temperatures and two diaspore conditions (intact and without epicarp). In the second test, factors were different light qualities and two diaspore conditions. The analyzed variables were: germination percentage, germination rate index (GRI) and mean germination time (MGT). Mistletoe’s diaspores present an elliptic shape with viscin layer, an essential characteristic for the dispersion of the species. In addition to this, they present a distinction as for the moisture content when compared to the Loranthaceae and Viscaceae, where the latter presents the highest content. Germination is greater at the alternated temperature of 20-30 oC for P. pyrifolia and P. mucronatum diaspores and 20 oC for S. marginatus. Luminosity interfered in the germination of P. mucronatum and S. marginatus but did not influence P. pyrifolia. The diaspore condition influenced the germination of the three studied species, observing a significant increase in their germination when the epicarp was removed. Temperature and luminosity interfere directly in the GRI and MGT of the three mistletoes species.

Avaliou-se o efeito da adição de teores crescentes de ureia (0,0; 0,5 e 1,0%) na matéria natural da cana-de-açúcar sobre a produção e composição do leite, eficiência alimentar e viabilidade econômica. Foram utilizadas 18 vacas em lactação, com produção média inicial de 21,3±0,8kg/dia de leite e com 83±7 dias em lactação, distribuídas em delineamento ensaio de reversão do tipo switch-back, 3x3. As dietas experimentais foram constituídas de cana-de-açúcar como volumoso único e concentrado, na relação de 50:50 (base MS). Não houve efeito da suplementação dos diferentes teores de ureia sobre a produção e composição do leite. Contudo, a eficiência alimentar (produção de leite/consumo de matéria seca) foi melhor nas dietas em que se utilizou ureia, sendo 1,14; 1,17 e 1,17, respectivamente, para as dietas com 0,0; 0,5 e 1,0% de ureia (P<0,05). Considerando-se apenas o custo alimentar, todas as dietas apresentaram saldo positivo, sendo que a dieta com 1,0% de ureia apresentou o melhor saldo.

We studied the effect of increasing 0.0, 0.5 and 1.0% urea in natural sugar cane on cow milk production and composition, food productivity and economic viability. Eighteen lactating cows were studied, they had avarage milk production of 21.3±0.8kg/day and were 83±7 days in lactation in a switch-back, 3 x 3 design. The experimental diets consisted of a unique concentrated sugar cane portion with the 50:50 relation (MS base). The results showed no effect of different urea concentrations on the milk production or composition. However, food productivity (milk production/dry matter consumption) was 1.14; 1.17, and 1.17 respectively on urea diets of 0.0; 0.5 and 1.0% (P<0.05). Considering only the alimentary cost, all diets had a positive balance, and the 1.0% urea concentration was the best.

The study evaluated tambaqui, Colossoma macropomum, performance fed different levels of mango (Mangifera indica) meal in the feed (20, 30, 40 and 50 %) and the reduction of protein levels (38, 33, 28 and 23 %). To this study, 240 fish were used, separated in 12 equal groups, in four treatments and three replications in a randomized system. Initial weight was 5,21; 5,24; 5,19 and 4,99 g respectively. The trial lasted 56 days and fish were periodically weight. Fish were fed daily ad libitum. The following performance parameters were analyzed: specific growth, biomass gain; apparent fed conversion, survival, metabolic profile and digestives enzymes activity. All data show positive polynomial regression for the diet with 50 % mango meal and 23 % protein (R50). Performance parameters had a significant effect with higher results in the groups were mango meal was higher and protein level was lower. Final average weigh was R20: 8,65; R30: 8,81; R40: 8,68 and R50: 11,39 g. From metabolic profile analyzes: glucose, hepatic glycogen, total amino acids and cholesterol it was observed that there are a mobilization from these metabolites in order to keep energy process for tambaqui growth. it was concluded that the best tambaqui performance occured in the diet with 50 % of mango meal inclusion and 23 % of protein. Fish metabolic profile is positively affected by the replacement of protein by mango meal.

O trabalho avaliou o crescimento do tambaqui, (Colossoma macropomum) com a inclusão de diferentes concentrações (20, 30, 40 e 50 %) de farinha de manga (Mangifera indica) e redução dos teores de proteína (38, 33, 28 e 23 %) na ração, assim denominadas R20, R30, R40 e R50, respectivamente. Para realização do trabalho utilizou-se 240 peixes, delineados inteiramente ao acaso (4x3). O peso médio inicial foi de 5,21; 5,24; 5,19 e 4,99g respectivamente. O experimento durou 56 dias. O arraçoamento foi diário e de forma ad libitum. Analisaram-se as variáveis: taxa de crescimento específico, ganho de biomassa; conversão alimentar aparente, sobrevivência, análise de perfil metabólico e atividade de enzima digestiva. Os resultados de desempenho apresentaram regressão polinomial positiva nas rações com 50 % de farinha de manga e 23 % de proteína (R50). O peso médio final foi R20: 8,65; R30: 8,81; R40: 8,68 e R50: 11,39 g. Nas análises do perfil metabólico: glicose, glicogênio hepático, aminoácidos totais e colesterol, houve mobilização para manter os processos de energia no crescimento do tambaqui. Conclui-se que, o melhor desempenho dos tambaquis ocorre com a inclusão de 50 % de farinha de manga e 23 % de proteína. O perfil metabólico dos peixes é afetado positivamente pela substituição da proteína pela farinha de manga.

Objetivou-se neste estudo verificar o melhor nível de inclusão entre proteína e carboidrato no desempenho e algumas respostas metabólicas em juvenis de pacamã (Lophiosilurus alexandri). Testaram-se quatro dietas com as relações proteína/carboidrato (PB:CHO) 1,24; 0,84; 0,51 e 0,33 durante 60 dias. Foram utilizados 240 juvenis de pacamã pesando inicialmente 1,90g, alimentados duas vezes ao dia (8% da biomassa). Avaliou-se o ganho de peso total, taxa de crescimento específico, consumo de ração aparente, conversão alimentar aparente, rendimento de carcaça e gordura visceral. Glicemia, aminoácidos totais livres no plasma e glicogênio hepático também foram avaliados. A relação PB:CHO influenciou (P<0,05) os parâmetros de desempenho e metabolismo, exceto o glicogênio hepático. Maiores concentrações de glicose e aminoácidos totais livres no plasma foram observadas nos peixes que se alimentaram com a dieta contendo a maior relação PB:CHO (1,24). Além disso, observaram-se melhores médias de ganho de peso, taxa de crescimento específico e conversão alimentar aparente. Maiores percentuais de gordura visceral e menor rendimento de carcaça foram observados nos animais submetidos à dieta composta pela menor relação PB:CHO (0,33). Pode-se concluir que a dieta com a relação PB:CHO de 1,24 promoveu melhor desempenho e respostas metabólicas em juvenis de pacamã.

The aim of this study was to determine the best level of inclusion between protein and carbohydrate on performance and some metabolic responses in juvenile pacamã (Lophiosilurus alexandri). We tested four diets regarding protein/carbohydrate (PB: CHO) 1.24, 0.84, 0.51 and 0.33 for 60 days. The experiment was conducted with 240 juvenile pacamã initially weighing 1.90g, fed twice daily (8% of the biomass). We evaluated the total weight gain, specific growth rate, feed intake, feed conversion, carcass yield and visceral fat. Glucose, total plasma free amino acids and liver glycogen were also evaluated. The relationship PB: CHO influenced (P <0.05) the performance and metabolism parameters except the liver glycogen. Higher concentrations of glucose and total plasma free amino acids were observed in fish that were fed the diet containing the highest ratio PB: CHO (1.24); and we also observed better mean weight gain, specific growth rate and feed conversion. A higher percentage of visceral fat and lower carcass yield were observed in animals treated with diet composed by the lower ratio PB: CHO (0.33). We can conclude that a diet with a ratio PB: CHO of 1.24, promotes better performance and metabolic responses in juvenile pacamã.

Objetivou-se nesta pesquisa avaliar qual frequência alimentar promove o melhor desempenho em juvenis de tambaqui. Foram testadas quatro frequências alimentares (duas, quatro, seis e oito vezes ao dia) em intervalos regulares. Foram estocados alevinos de tambaqui com peso médio inicial de 15,74±0,28g em 16 aquários de vidro transparentes com capacidade de 70L de volume útil, em um delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, com quatro tratamentos e quatro repetições. O período de alimentação foi de 30 dias, e utilizou-se uma ração comercial contendo 45% de proteína bruta para peixes onívoros, com taxa de arraçoamento de 6% da biomassa total dos peixes de cada aquário. Os resultados médios de pH, temperatura (°C) e condutividade elétrica (mS/cm) para manhã e tarde foram, respectivamente: 6,91; 6,96; 25,85; 27,69; 0,65; e 0,65. Foram avaliados os índices de desempenho: ganho de peso, conversão alimentar aparente, taxa de crescimento específico, sobrevivência, e também foi analisada a glicose sanguínea. Não foram detectadas diferenças significativas para as variáveis estudadas. Recomenda-se a frequência de alimentação de duas vezes ao dia para juvenis de tambaqui, principalmente visando minimizar mão de obra.

The aim of this research was to assess how often food promotes better performance in tambaqui. We tested four food frequencies (two, four, six and eight times a day) at regular intervals. Tambaqui fingerlings with initial weight of 15.74±0.28g were stocked in 16 transparent glass tanks with a capacity of 70L of usable volume in a completely randomized design with four treatments and four replications. The feeding period was thirty days and a commercial diet containing 45% crude protein for omnivorous fish and a feeding rate of 6% of the total biomass of fish for each experimental unit was used. The average results of pH, temperature °C and electrical conductivity mS/cm for morning and afternoon were respectively 6.91 and 6.96; 25.85 and 27.69; 0.65 and 0.65. We evaluated the performance indices: weight gain, feed conversion, specific growth rate, survival, and also blood glucose. No significant differences were detected for the variables studied. It is recommended that the frequency of feeding be 2 times a day for tambaqui, mainly to minimize labor.

Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, determinar a melhor relação entre proteína e carboidrato na dieta do híbrido carnívoro Pseudoplatystoma fasciatume Leiarius marmoratus. Utilizou-se um sistema fechado de recirculação de água, composto de 12 caixas de 500L e biofiltro. Foram utilizados 144 juvenis (12/caixa) com peso médio inicial de 12,63±2,52g e comprimento total de 12,34±2,06cm durante 50 dias. Os peixes receberam quatro dietas contendo diferentes relações proteína:carboidrato (1,24; 0,84; 0,56 e 0,33). A relação proteína:carboidrato influenciou o desempenho e os parâmetros metabólicos dos animais. A melhor relação proteína:carboidrato para o desempenho foi 0,84. Os resultados metabólicos demonstraram mobilização de nutrientes para manutenção de glicemia e do crescimento. A relação proteína:carboidrato de 0,84 foi a mais indicada para o híbrido.

The purpose of this study was to determine the best protein:carbohydrate ratio in this hybrid's diet. A water recirculation closed system was used, composed of twelve tanks with 500L each. 144 juveniles (12/tank) with initial weight of 12.63±2.52g and total length of 12.34±2.06cm were distributed. The experiment lasted for 50 days and the fingerlings were feed four diets containing different protein:carbohydrate ratios (1.24; 0.84; 0.56 and 0.33). The protein:carbohydrate ratio influenced performance. The 0.84 ratio promoted better weight gain, smaller apparent feed conversion, great feed intake and largest daily specific growth rate. In short, the 0.84 protein:carbohydrate ratio is most indicated for this hybrid. The results demonstrated metabolic mobilization of nutrients for maintenance of glucose and growth. The 0.84 protein: carbohydrate ratio was recommended for the hybrid.

A busca de alimentos alternativos para a fabricação de ração para peixes tem se tornado constante. No entanto, é essencial que, além de ter ótimo aproveitamento pela espécie, este alimento esteja disponível ao longo do ano. Deste modo, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da substituição do farelo de milho pelo farelo de licuri sobre o desempenho de alevinos de tambaqui. Três tratamentos de níveis de substituição de milho pelo farelo de licuri (33,33%; 66,66% e 100%) foram avaliados e comprados com a dieta controle. Os alevinos, com peso inicial médio de 3,18±0,5g, foram distribuídos em caixas de água de 250L, contendo cada uma, inicialmente, 16 animais. Os alevinos foram alimentados três vezes ao dia, a uma taxa de 5% da biomassa total, durante o período de 50 dias. A cada 10 dias eram realizadas biometrias. Ao final do experimento, foram avaliados parâmetros de desempenho zootécnico e foi feita avaliação bromatológica da carcaça. Não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos, para os parâmetros: peso final, ganho de peso, conversão alimentar, eficiência alimentar, sobrevivência e crescimento, somente para o consumo de ração, que foi significativamente menor quando houve 100% de substituição. Neste tratamento também houve maior porcentagem de proteína bruta e menor teor de extrato etéreo na carcaça.

The search for alternative ingredients for fish feed has become constant, therefore it is essential that the ingredients have total use by the specie. Beyond this, the ingredient should be available throughout the year. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the corn meal replacement by licuri meal over tambaqui juvenile performance. Three replacement treatments were evaluated and compared to the control diet (33.33%; 66.66% and 100%). Sixteen fish (initial weight = 3.18 ± 0.5 g ) were placed in 250 L tanks. Fish were fed three times a day at the average of 5% of total biomass. Every ten days fish were weighed and measured. At the end of the trial, performance and carcass composition were evaluated in each treatment. There was no significant difference among treatments for final weight, weight gain, feed conversion, feed efficiency, survival and growth. However, there was significant difference for feed consumption, which was significantly lower where 100% of corn meal was replaced by licuri meal. Is this treatment higher carcass protein content and lower carcass fat was also significant.

Mango meal with peel was evaluated as carbohydrate source in substitution of corn, for tilapia juvenile growth and carcass composition. There were used 180 fish (4,69 ± 0,06 g) in 12 tanks of 500 L, fed three times a day (6 % of live weight), in a water recirculating system with biofilter. Four diets were evaluated with different mango meal concentrations T1= diet with 30 % of corn; and T2, T3 and T4 in which 33, 66, and 100 % of corn was replaced by mango meal. All of the treatments had three repetitions. At the end of 45 days performance was evaluated (final weight, weight gain; specific growth rate, feed consumption, apparent feed conversion rate, carcass yield, survival) and chemical carcass composition. The levels of mango meal substitution by corn meal affected all the variables analyzed from level 33 % (p<0,05), with the exception of survival and carcass yield (p>0,05). Carcass chemical composition values were changed except for ash. Mango meal in substitution for corn may be used until the level of 33 % in Nile tilapia feed without damage for growth performance and carcass chemical composition.

A farinha de manga com cascas foi avaliada como fonte de carboidrato em substituição ao milho para o crescimento de alevinos de tilápia e composição química da carcaça. Foram utilizados 180 peixes (4,69 ± 0,06 g) estocados em 12 caixas de 500 L, alimentados três vezes ao dia (6 % peso vivo), em um sistema de recirculação de água com biofiltro. Foram testadas quatro dietas com diferentes concentrações de farinha de manga T1= dieta com 30 % de milho; T2= 33 % substituição milho por manga; T3= 66 % substituição milho por manga e T4= 100 % de substituição do milho pela manga com três repetições. Ao final de 45 dias, foram avaliados o desempenho zootécnico (peso médio final, ganho de peso médio final, taxa de crescimento específico, consumo de ração aparente, conversão alimentar aparente, rendimento de carcaça, sobrevivência) e composição química da carcaça. Os níveis de farinha de manga em substituição ao milho afetaram todas as variáveis de desempenho a partir de 33 % de substituição (p<0,05), com exceção da sobrevivência e o rendimento de carcaça (p>0,05). Os valores da composição química da carcaça foram alterados com exceção da matéria mineral. A farinha de manga em substituição ao milho pode ser utilizada em até 33 % na ração da tilápia do Nilo sem prejudicar o desempenho zootécnico e a composição química da carcaça.

Avaliaram-se o consumo, metabólitos sanguíneos e a produção e composição do leite de 16 vacas Holandês x Gir, manejadas em pastagem de Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu, suplementadas com 6kg/vaca/dia (base matéria natural) de concentrado contendo 0; 1,3; 2,6 e 3,9kg/vaca/dia de grão de soja tostado (GST). Foi utilizado o delineamento com quatro quadrados latinos (QL) 4 x 4, sendo cada fase do QL constituída de 10 dias de período de adaptação à dieta e de cinco para coleta de amostras. A suplementação da dieta com GST resultou em redução linear (P<0,05) nos consumos de matéria seca e de fibra insolúvel em detergente neutro do pasto e total. A concentração de glicose não foi afetada (P>0,05), porém a de ácidos graxos não esterificados aumentou com a inclusão do GST na dieta (P<0,05). Não houve efeito (P>0,05) da adição do GST sobre a produção e composição do leite, exceto para o teor (P=0,10) e produção (P=0,08) de gordura no leite.

Feed intake, blood metabolites, and milk yield and composition of Holstein x Gir cows grazing Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu receiving 6kg/cow/day (natural matter based) of concentrate containing 0, 1.3, 2.6, 3.9kg/cow/day of roasted soybean seeds (RSS) were evaluated. The experimental design was four 4 x 4 latin square (LS) in wich each phase consisted of 10 days for diet adaptation period and 5 days for samples collection. Diet supplementation with RSS decreased linearly (P<0.05) the intake of pasture, total diet dry matter and neutral detergent fiber. The plasma glucose concentration was unaffected (P>0.05), but nonesterified fatty acids increased with RSS supplementation (P<0.05). There was no effect (P>0.05) of RSS supplement on milk production and composition, except the linear reduction on the content (P=0.10) and yield (P=0.08) milk fat, which can present positive financial implication to farmers, knowing that most of the Brazilian dairy use payment programs by milk composition.

O objetivo da presente pesquisa foi comparar o crescimento das espécies de capim colchão D. ciliaris e D. nuda, em condições não-competitivas. Para isso, foram conduzidos dois experimentos, um de março a julho de 2010 e outro de fevereiro a junho de 2011. O delineamento experimental de ambos os ensaios foi inteiramente casualizado, perfazendo um esquema fatorial (2 épocas x 2 espécies de capim colchão x 12 períodos de avaliação), com quatro repetições. As avaliações iniciaram-se aos 15 dias após a semeadura (DAS), e repetidas semanalmente até os 92 DAS. As variáveis avaliadas foram massa seca total (raízes+folhas+colmos), área foliar, número de folhas e de perfilho. Os resultados foram submetidos a análise de variância e com as médias foram calculadas a taxa de crescimento absoluto, taxa de crescimento relativo e a razão de área foliar, as quais foram ajustadas a modelos de regressão. As espécies de capim-colchão diferiram entre si quanto a área foliar, numero de folhas, número de perfilho e matéria seca por planta. D. ciliaris para todas as variáveis obteve média estatisticamente superior em relação a D. nuda. Em relação à velocidade com que o crescimento das espécies ocorreu, a taxa de crescimento absoluto e relativo de D. ciliaris também foi superior a D. nuda. Além disso, D. ciliaris também teve menor razão de área foliar indicando maior eficiência na conversão de energia luminosa em carboidratos. Pode-se concluir que D. ciliaris apresentar maior crescimento, em condições onde não há limitações de nutrientes e disponibilidade hídrica, em relação a D. nuda principalmente por apresentar maior área foliar, numero de folhas e acúmulo de matéria seca por planta.

The aim of this research paper was to compare the growth of D. ciliaris and D. nuda crabgrass species under non-competitive conditions. To this end, two experiments were conducted, one from March - July 2010 and the other from February - June 2011. The experimental design of both trials was completely randomized making a factorial (2 seasons x 2 species crabgrass x 12 evaluation periods) with four replications. Assessments began at 15 days after sowing (DAS), and repeated weekly until 92 DAS. The variables evaluated were total dry matter (roots+leaves+stems), leaf area, leaf number and tiller. The results were submitted to analysis of variance and the absolute growth rate, relative growth rate and leaf area ratio were calculated using the means, which were adjusted regression models. The crabgrass species were significantly different in leaf area, leaf number, tiller number and dry matter per plant. D. ciliaris for all variables was statistically higher than D. nuda. Regarding the speed at which the growth of the species occurred, the absolute growth rate and relative growth rate of D. ciliaris was also greater than D. nuda. In addition, D. ciliaris also had a lower leaf area ratio indicating greater efficiency in converting light energy into carbohydrates. It can be concluded that D. ciliaris has a higher growth rate in conditions where there is no limitation of nutrients and water availability in relation to D. nuda, mainly due to D. ciliaris have greater leaf area, number of leaves and dry matter accumulation per plant.

Avaliou-se nesta pesquisa o efeito de diferentes fontes de carboidratos no desempenho de alevinos de tilápia. Foram testadas quatro dietas isoproteicas com diferentes concentrações de farinha de manga 0; 33, 66, e 100% em substituição ao milho. O período de alimentação foi de 45 dias, e a taxa de arraçoamento foi de 8% da biomassa. Foram utilizados 360 alevinos de tilápia-do-nilo, com peso médio inicial de 2,08±0,13g, distribuídos em 12 caixas de 500L, em um sistema de recirculação de água com biofiltro. Foram avaliados índices de desempenho, consumo de ração, rendimento de carcaça e sobrevivência. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que o ganho de peso individual, o ganho médio diário, a taxa de crescimento específico, o consumo de ração aparente, a conversão alimentar aparente e a sobrevivência não foram afetados pelas fontes de carboidratos testadas. O rendimento de carcaça foi influenciado pela farinha de manga na ração. Concluiu-se que o milho na dieta pode ser substituído 100% pela farinha de manga para a tilápia, sem prejudicar o desempenho.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different carbohydrates on the performance of Tilapia fingerlings. Four isoproteic diets with different concentrations of mango meal (0, 33, 66 and 100%) were tested to replace the cornmeal. The feeding period was 45 days and the feeding rate was 8% of the biomass. Three hundred and sixty nile tilapia fingerlings with initial average weight of 2.08±0.13g, distributed into 12 500L experimental units, in a water recirculating system with biofilter were used. Performance indicators such as feed intake, carcass yield and survival rate were also evaluated. The results showed that the individual weight gain, average daily gain, specific growth rate, apparent feed intake, apparent feed conversion and survival were not affected by the two sources of carbohydrates tested. The carcass yield was influenced by mango meal in the diet. It was concluded that the replacement of maize in the diet can be done with 100% mango meal for Tilapia.
